How to Install an Air Deflector on a Harley

How to Install an Air Deflector on a Harley

Having a motorcycle is about feeling the wind in your hair and the overall experience of driving. If you own a Harley-Davidson Sportster, then you have added comfort to the experience. Problem is, it can still get hot while riding, and that's not going to get fixed with a quick air conditioning install, so one solution is to install air deflectors. These redirect the air upward, so that it cools the rider off. In this case, the project vehicle is a 2008 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, but the process is similar for other models.

Difficulty:
Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Adjustable air deflector kit
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
    • 1

Locate the eight hole plugs located on the sides of the front fairings. There are 4 holes on each side, with small plastic covers. Remove each of these and place them to the side.

    • 2

Line up one of the adjustable air deflectors to the fairing, making sure to line up the holes in the air deflector with the holes in the fairings. If it doesn't fit flush, then you need to switch pieces, as these will fit tight against the fairing.

    • 3

Screw the adjustable air deflector into the fairing, using a Phillips-head screwdriver and the screws provided with the air deflectors. Repeat this process for the other side.
